Note to Myself: Lessons in Life

Umair Tahir

Listen to your inner self; don't always take your inner peace for granted. No one can ever bring you

down as long as you have a pure heart and conscience. If it requires you to disconnect from your current environment, do it for your own sake. Stay positive and remain on the right path, and then you will be protected by the truth.

Once you gather yourself together, trust me, you'll emerge stronger than you ever thought possible. No one will understand and care for you as you can for yourself, so heed your inner self.

The battle is within the mind. Build your own happiness, find your own strength. No one can heal you; it's not the doctor or your friend, but only you who can heal yourself. No one can make you feel better except yourself. Everyone is preoccupied with their own lives, even your best friend; they have their own problems to solve, their own battles to fight. Don't depend on anyone.

Sometimes we need to change our daily routine or our circle of friends to discover and realize our true purpose in life. Take advantage of your youth, which is the prime of your life; as you age, your energy starts to decline. Take risks, do things you think you can't, challenge yourself.

Be open-minded, expand your circle, step out of your comfort zone. Do not become too complacent in your comfort zone. I've learned that you will never discover who you really are if you stay in your comfort zone.

Don't be afraid to fail. So what if you do? Consider this: successful people have failed many times before they reached where they are. Failures are a part of success. Don't let others' opinions deter you; cheer up and try again until you reach the finish line.
